EVENT DETAILS
May 19 will offer 2 race options. A 6 and 12 hour course. Adventure races are all done using orienteering skills (compass and map), no GPS devices are allowed, but we are happy to give instruction. The Wellington Lake area is a great place to learn orienteering skills - it would be very difficult to get lost with the distinct terrain and the vast trail and road system in the area, so fear not!
Mountain bikes required, no e-bikes allowed.
All races will require you, and all members of your team to mountain bike, trek/hike, kayak as well as complete any rock sections which could include climbing, rappelling or a Tyrolean Traverse. All climbing gear will be provided and experience guides from SAI will be there to assure safety and help you to succeed. You'll need to wear your bike helmet. You are allowed to 'skip' a section but will be ranked accordingly. The final race distances are yet to be determined, but the following general descriptions will apply:
While still competitive, the 6-hour course is geared towards beginners and/or experienced racers on teams to introduce family and friends to this exciting sport. It will consist of 10-15 miles of mountain biking, 3-6 miles of hiking/trekking, and approximately 1 mile flat-water kayaking, and rock climbing and rappelling.
The 12-hour course is our most challenging course with much more navigation required, with all the same disciplines as in the 6-hour race. It will cover more than 50+ total miles, including mountain biking in the Buffalo Creek trail system!
Military and first responders, please contact us for a team discount of 10%.
